Weight Loss Medication Insurance Coverage Changes Effective January 1, 2026
Important Update: Insurance Coverage Changes for Weight-Loss Medications
Dear Patients,
We want to make you aware of an important change that may affect your prescription coverage. Starting January 1, 2026, many insurance plans will no longer cover weight-loss medications.
Please note:
- Our practice cannot override insurance decisions.
- We are unable to prescribe similar medications “off-label” (for example, Ozempic or Mounjaro as substitutes).
For the most accurate and current information, we recommend contacting your insurance company directly to confirm when these changes will take effect and what options may remain available.
While we understand these changes may be frustrating, lasting weight management can be possible through sustainable lifestyle habits.
Helpful strategies include:
- Nutrition: Focus on balanced meals with fiber, lean protein, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats. Limit processed foods and sugary drinks.
- Physical Activity: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise weekly and include strength training twice a week. Exercising with a friend or family member can help with consistency.
- Sleep: Strive for 7–9 hours of quality sleep per night.
- Stress Management: Try mindfulness, yoga, or deep breathing exercises.
- Routine Check-Ins: Schedule regular visits with your primary care provider to review progress and explore supportive resources.
We appreciate your understanding and remain dedicated to helping you achieve your health goals through safe, evidence-based care.
Sincerely,
Acton Medical Associates
