Prescription Refills & Renewals

ADULT MEDICINE PRESCRIPTIONs

When you need to refill or renew a prescription, you have two options:

  1. Use the RelayHealth communication service to request it on line or
  2. Contact us by phone

In order to provide the highest clinical service to you, we will review your medical record to determine if a follow-up visit or medication adjustment is needed before refilling the prescription at the pharmacy of your choice.

If using the RelayHealth service, please allow us three(3) business days before your prescription runs out. Please be sure to update your Personal Health Record and please note that if there are any questions this could cause a delay.

If phoning in your request, please call us at least (3) business days before your prescription runs out. Call your primary physician’s office at 978-263-1131, Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm and Friday, 9 am to noon; please ask for the pharmacy refill line. Please note if there are any questions, this could cause a delay.

Please have the following information readily available:

  • Your name and date of birth
  • The name of the medication
  • The strength and dosage of your medication
  • The name of the pharmacy of your choice

Prescriptions will generally be called into the pharmacy within 72 hours of the receipt of your call. Calls received after the above specified times will take longer.

Please note that in order to protect patients’ confidentiality; we do not fax or e-mail prescriptions to mail order pharmaceutical companies for a new or changed prescription. We will prepare the script for you to pick up for mailing to the mail order company of your choice. Once a prescription has been established with a mail order company, subsequent prescriptions can be renewed.

Please remember to call us at least 3 days before your prescription runs out and plan ahead to make sure that you have sufficient quantity to last over weekends and holidays. We also recommend that you call your pharmacy before picking up your prescription to ensure that it’s ready. Routine refills are highly discouraged on the weekends.

Your cooperation with this procedure allows us to provide you with quality clinical care and service. The physicians and nurses of Acton Medical Associates thank you for your cooperation.
